Μεγάλο ερευνητικό και αναπτυξιακό εγχείρημα της ΔΕΥΑ Δράμας εφαρμόστηκε στον ελληνικό χώρο, με στόχο την αναβάθμιση και ολοκληρωμένη διαχείριση των τοπικών υποδομών ενέργειας, υδάτων, αποβλήτων και μεταφορών. Η πράξη είχε σημαντικά μειωμένο ενεργειακό αποτύπωμα, προσέφερε λύσεις σε χρόνιες προκλήσεις και λειτούργησε ως παράδειγμα προς αναπαραγωγή για άλλες ΔΕΥΑ, απομονωμένες περιοχές και αστικά κέντρα.

Οι παρεμβάσεις περιλάμβαναν:

• ενεργειακή αναβάθμιση του βιολογικού καθαρισμού
• προμήθεια ηλεκτρικών οχημάτων για τις ανάγκες της ΔΕΥΑ
• εγκατάσταση μετρητικού εξοπλισμού.

Demonstrative use of renewable and alternative energy technologies in the social infrastructure of the Drama Water Utility

A major research and development project of the Drama Water Utility was implemented in Greece, aiming at the upgrade and integrated management of local infrastructure in energy, water, waste, and transport. The project achieved a significantly reduced energy footprint, provided solutions to long-standing challenges, and served as a replicable model for other utilities, remote areas, and urban centers. Interventions focused on the energy upgrade of the municipal wastewater treatment plant, the supply of electric vehicles, and the installation of metering equipment, thus contributing decisively to the gradual achievement of sustainability.
